Project description_
To paraphrase Pedro Almodóvar, the project could be called “Towers on the edge of an economic crisis” … The project was born in 2007 as a natural continuation of the victory of the competition organized by the Parque Tecnológico de Fuente Álamo in 2006 for the realization of the Centro de Desarrollo, Innovación y Negocio (Cedin), a building of about 10,000 square meters destined to offices for rent to small companies with high technological content and service functions to the activity of the park, such as a conference hall, training rooms, a gym, a restaurant / cafeteria and a kindergarten for the children in mainstream employees.
To exploit the maximum buildable surface area available, increasing the once would be considered as rentable, he thought to occupy at height of -4.50 m the entire plot for all the auxiliary functions and to squeeze and locate part of the offices ( about 6,000 square meters) in four towers elliptical base of 4, 6 and 8 floors.
Seen from the outside the Cedin complex results to be constituted by only four buildings rested on the ground, since we hide the private function in the basement. A deformed cloverleaf “cut” the ground floor’s surface, and it generates four green patios , each surrounded by the windows functions as restaurant, gym, nursery, and foyer of the conference hall – of which become natural continuation and external area transformed respectively in open-air terrace of the cafeteria, rest and relaxation area, playground area and outdoor receptions.
Thanks to the complete transparency of closing windows of these spaces, the ground floor slab turns out to be a thin surface which is opposed to the office tower. The plan typology characterized by a oval rounded shape with a central core containing the block stairs / elevators and toilets, allows to best use the space for offices because it provides flexibility within the space.
The exterior facade, originally designed with triangular supporting structure and white lacquered aluminum and glass panels, was replaced for cost issue with a more traditional brick façade covered with Ondulit panels colored in different shades of gray .
Unfortunately, the economic crisis which occurred in Spain, caused the failure of Immobiliare who at the time was financing the project. Therefore the construction site has been suspended and abandoned by the Contractor without completing the work.
Inside the building only the reinforced concrete structures are built. In regards the exterior Contractor completed the work till the insulation layer only
