Project description_
The typical geometry of the Huerta of Murcia – the area planted with orchards medium / small size typical of the surroundings of the city, whose top view geometry comprises a particular and distinctive “mosaic” – the research of the three-dimensional slipped shape– already applied other competitions as the Ciudad de la Justicia or the new Gulf Hospital – inspired us in the designing process for Renewable energy Training Centre.
One of the main goal for this project, as well as the use of renewable energy sources Extreme – solar, photovoltaic and wind – that could allow the full recovery of the building, was to be able to develop a project that occupy less than 50% of the available plot, obviously for the same energy-saving targets. To achieve aforementioned purpose we decided to developed a building that had a structure and a form such as to minimize the points of contact with the ground. A building that had to be thought of as a and that the feet of this bridge was nothing but volumes containing the offices, laboratory, auxiliary function as per the brief’s request.
It is thus a functional layering – from bottom to top: laboratories, classrooms and directional area – consisted in “slipped modules” that generate a building characterized by the alternation of volumes and voids. Voids conceived and designed as green courtyards.
